Being a college town, Boulder gets pretty busy in August with all of the students moving and settling into their new houses, apartments, or dorms. Yet the college isn’t the only reason why Boulder is more active than usual. This month Boulder hosted a number of different events, including the Boulder Ironman Triathlon and the US Pro Cycling Challenge. On the Boulder skyline, a few of the flatirons and hiking trails opened to the public in August. The trails were closed during the majority of the summer in order to help preserve the cliff-dwelling raptors that live in the area.
This month’s color palette, The Sunny Flatirons, was taken in the NCAR area in August 2014. The photo shows a portion of the boulder skyline and a number of the most popular flatirons in the area as well as one of many sunflowers that can be found around town.

Alex Galassi is Donna’s son and has been working with Blue Zenith since the fall of 2013, after graduating from CU Boulder that spring. In the beginning he worked part time, mainly doing blogging and simple website edits. Since then, his role has shifted to become the main website developer for Blue Zenith. When he is not at work or writing fiction, Alex enjoys exploring Colorado’s beautiful mountains, reading fantasy and science-fiction novels, attending concerts at Red Rocks, and playing Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, and video games.
